Operations and operators in multimodal transport

There are several types of operators who could play part in an MT operation. Some of these include: Transport service providers could be a non-vessel owning carrier or carrier who owns the mode of transport e.g. shipping lines, railway lines, airlines, transport companies, pipeline etc. Customs agents whose work is to process cargo through customs administration. Other operators provide warehousing services. Ports operators, airport services providers etc. constitute another category of operators who provide another range of services. Mostly handling of cargo and transfer from one mode to another or from one carrier to another is normally done at these nodes.
