1. a) Briefly Discuss the following terms in the context of National

iii. Nation

b) Discuss the various challenges faced by Kenya’s Devolve system today. (10 Marks)
c) Analyze any ONE theory on the origin of the state. (9Marks)
Section B: Answer any THREE Questions
2. Discuss the role of the state in National Development. (15 Marks)
3. It is argued that Kenya as a nation has a more mature Democracy relative to her peers in East Africa. Evaluate the indicators of this democracy. (15Marks)
4. a) Define the term Nationalism. (3 Marks)
b) What hinders national unity in Kenya today? (12 Marks)
5. The cries from the animals to the owners of Savanna when there was nothing more to eat were “If the rulers must come from the lion family, please give us a competent lion,” this is likened to Kenya’s politics and the choice of right leaders to govern the state. Analyse the importance of competent leaders in government with regard to the role of the state in National development. (15 Marks)
