Purpose and Design of Stock Identification

This is the process of systematically defining and describing all stocked items. It includes the preparation of stores code, vocabulary, the adoption of material specification and introduction of high degree of standardization. The term material is general in the sense that it encompasses all the goods held by the organization. It covers bulk of goods usually intended for use in connection with production and also finished products awaiting dispatch to customers.
