QUESTION ONE (20 Marks) Compulsory
a) Define and explain the use of the following technologies in the field of web development
(2 Marks)
1) HTML
2) HTTP
3) FTP
4) Browsers
b) Identify and explain any four elements used in writing HTML markup (2Marks)
c) Explain the difference between the following terms as used in web development.
1) Absolute Path & Relative path (1 Mark)
2) <style> (style tag) & <script> (script tag) (1 Mark)
d) Create a simple webpage that can be used to display the records of students as shown in the
table below. The marks of the students should be centered. (4 Marks)

KCA University is planning to host a cultural week event, to participate in the event one is required
to register online. The University has employed you to design the web registration form that
participants will use to register. Using HTML & CSS outline how you would design the
registration form below. (6 Marks)


Create a simple webpage that displays two images as shown in the diagram below (4 Marks)


NB: Assume the names of the images are kevin.jpg and emily.jpg respectively
QUESTION TWO (15 Marks)
a) Give the element for creating the following content [4 Marks]
i. A thin green horizontal rule that runs half the width of the display
ii. An image (logo.jpg) used as a link to an external website (www.uschy.net/en
b) Give the element that will give the following [6 Marks]
(i) Merge two data cells that are within the same row
(ii) Give the row in a table the same back ground colour
(iii) Fix the width of a column in a table to 200 pixels
(iv) Make the table fill the entire display of the computer
c) Write a JavaScript code embedded on an HTML page that outputs the statement “I love
designing websites” [5 Marks]
QUESTION THREE (15 Marks)
a) Create the colour table below. Only the RGB code may be used for the colours. Select the appropriate
colour codes for R, G and B as well as for combinations R+G, R+B and B+G. Choose a fanciful colour
for the background for the composition of colour row (first row). The background colour is silver.

should then compare the two variables and output the largest of the two. (4 Marks)

web page (4 Marks)

3) A heading of a page
4) A paragraph
e) Explain the difference between CSS and HTML (2 Marks)
