Demerits of multimodal transport

Network configuration problems- a network is required throughout the transport chain for transfer of goods from one mode to another

• Requirement of equipment at every interchange point
• Waste of time due to double handling
• Requirement for international legal and regulatory framework that is not easily achievable. Policing of such legal structures at country level is also a challenge.
