QUESTION ONE
i) Kenya’s HIV epidemic affects most of its general population, but groups of men who
have sex with men, women, sex workers and people who inject drugs are still more
vulnerable to infection. Discuss the five HIV/AIDS prevention strategies (10 Marks)
ii) Drugs and substance abuse is a worldwide concern that occurs in every country, be it
developed or developing. Discuss the causes of alcohol and substance abuse in the
current generation of Kenya. (10 Marks)
iii) Life skills are the skills we need, to deal effectively with the challenges in everyday life,
whether at school, at work or in our personal lives. Discuss life skills under the emotional
category of Life skills (10 Marks)
QUESTION TWO
According to the East African Communities (EAC) strategic plan for gender, youth, children,
persons with disabilities, social protection and community development, children constitute more
than 50% of the EAC population. Each of these children has rights that are to be respected at all
means.

QUESTION THREE
There is a cyclical relationship between stigma and HIV; people who experience stigma and
discrimination are marginalized and made more vulnerable to HIV, while those living with
HIV are more vulnerable to experiencing stigma and discrimination.

Sexual and gender based violence (SGBV) entails widespread human rights violations, and is
often linked to unequal gender relations within communities and abuses of power.

ii) Discuss sexual and gender based violence in relation to increased vulnerability of
HIV/AIDS transmission in women. (10 Marks)
