SECTION B: 20 MARKS
The ministry of health has appointed you as a software developer to oversee the development of
software that can help in tracing the contacts for all the people who have been self quarantined,
in isolation facilities and those currently being treated at facilities within the borders of Kenya in
a bid to control the Covid-19 pandemic. They have given you exclusive access to immigration,
national registration of persons’ data, utility bills and Safaricom, Airtel and Telkom transactions.
a) Explain some of the ethical dilemmas you may face as you embark on this noble task, as
you either decide to take up this new assignment or you decline the appointment as a
bonafide member of the Computer Society of Kenya with a membership of 6 months
upon graduation from KCA University. (15 Marks)
b) Discuss the legal challenges that you envisage in this assignment. (5 Marks)

SECTION C: 20 MARKS
In reference to the case study in Section B.
You eventually accepted the appointed and developed the application that eventually led to the
flattening of the Covid-19 cases curve in Kenya. A friend of yours has connections and in direct
contact with the President of Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda who have sort to implement a
similar system in these countries. They are each willing to wire to your account an equivalent of
Ksh 10million.
a) State the reasons for the acceptance or rejection of this deal in reference to what you have
studied in this course. (10 Marks)
b) Discuss as to whether you should patent this idea or should the ministry of health have
the copyright? (6 Marks)
c) Some lines of code in your application were copy pasted from a project you did with your
friends at KCA University. Do they have the right to sue you for software piracy? Why?
